Filipino American Lawyers of San Diego is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing Filipino American legal professionals and the Asian Pacific American community. FALSD seeks to promote and advocate the interest of its community by preserving and fostering culture, heritage, and diversity. FALSD provides educational, networking and business opportunities for its members. FALSD regularly hosts and co-sponsors CLEs, mixers, volunteer events and legal clinics. FALSD serves the community by volunteering with organizations including Project Facelift, Dress for Success, Bagong Kulturang Pilipino – California, San Diego Food Bank and I Love A Clean San Diego. FALSD members routinely volunteer with Legal Aid Society of San Diego, providing pro bono services to individuals in need. Finally, FALSD strongly supports local law students by providing mentorship, educational seminars and by awarding scholarships to deserving students to cover the cost of taking the State Bar Examination.
The Filipino American Lawyers of San Diego is committed to ensuring that attorneys of color, particularly Filipino American attorneys, have access to equal opportunities in the legal profession. It aims to develop multicultural solutions, to foster diversification and to sustain multicultural coalitions in all channels of the legal system.
